Becoming a member of Samfunnet comes with many perks, and best of all; it is free for all international students! As a member of Samfunnet you get several benefits:
Membership price in Klubben and at all our events.
The membership also applies to the Student Society of Trondheim.
You’ll get the opportunity to engage yourself in various committees within Samfunnet, whether you wish to work in bar, order protection, light and sound etc. Samfunnet is driven by dedicated students and it’s a great opportunity to create new acquaintances.
The right to vote at General Assembly, which is held once per semester. Candidates are elected for board members and important decisions for Samfunnet are made.
A member's party is held per semester with free entry.
Special Benefits and criteria for International Members
International students on exchange for one semester are exempt from community service.
Regular events specifically tailored for international students are organized throughout the semester.
The organization will strive to always have instructions available in English for international students volunteering with the society.
Dedicated tours for international students will be arranged at the start of each semester.

Membership
As a member of Samfunnet i Ås, you receive discounted admission and lower prices at the venue in return for helping out at a couple of events each year through volunteer shifts. You also have the right to speak and vote at the Samfunnets General Assembly.
Membership is free for international students!
Membership and Volunteering
Committee Member
As a Committee Member (KM), you work as part of a specific committee and carry out its associated tasks. The type of work varies greatly between committees. Samfunnet, Tuntreet and the Næringslivsutvalget all have Committee Members.
Committee Members are required to work a minimum of 30 hours, equivalent to approximately four shifts, per semester.
Head of Committee
As a Head of Committee, also known as KS, you lead the committee and are responsible for its work. Each KS position reports to a board member, who also serves as the head of your section. Most Heads of Committee have Committee Members and therefore have personnel responsibilities.
A minimum of 60 hours of work per semester is required.

KS is short for Komitesjef/Head of Committee.
As a Head of Committee, you are part of a larger network of middle managers at Samfunnet. Each KS position reports to one of Samfunnet’s board members, who also serves as the head of your section. Most Heads of Committee have committee members and therefore have personnel responsibilities.
As a Head of Committee, you are expected to carry out the duties described in the position’s instructions. You are also expected to attend certain events and activities and contribute to creating a social environment among the KSs. A minimum of 60 hours of work per semester is required.

As KS for the Næringslivsutvalget, you will work closely with the board member responsible for the committee. You will act as both a sparring partner and the board member’s right-hand person, while also managing the responsibilities associated with the position.
You will also collaborate with the rest of the board to help organise key events such as Career Day and Business Day. A minimum of 60 hours of work per semester is required.

As a volunteer for Tuntreet, you receive volunteer benefits at Samfunnet i Ås. Tuntreet offers a wide range of roles, with different responsibilities and workloads.
The same minimum working hours apply as for volunteers at Samfunnet: 60 hours per semester for KS positions and 30 hours per semester for Committee Members.

UKA i Ås is held every other year, in even-numbered years. Just like Samfunnet, the festival depends on hundreds of volunteers to make it possible.
UKA i Ås uses slightly different titles for its volunteer roles, although both organisations use the title KS. As a KS for UKA, you will also receive KS benefits at events held at Samfunnet for the period specified in your contract.
UKA i Ås brings new life and activity to Samfunnet and has played an essential role in the Students’ Society in Ås.

Will you be away or unavailable for an extended period but want to keep your position? You can apply for a leave of absence from your role as a Committee Member.

As an international member of Samfunnet you have to participate in one or two community services per semester. This means you will work at one of Samfunnet’s events in good spirit and become an active part of the house’s operations for this evening. The events at Samfunnet would not take place without the help and effort from our members. At community service you will be working for others that are out enjoying Samfunnet, while they will be working the next time you are out partying at Samfunnet.
A typical community service normally looks like this:
19:30: You meet in the bodega where you will be served dinner. Here you will also be given information about the events this evening and tasks will be handed out.
20:30: You will be followed to your working station for the evening, and necessary instructions will be given.
21:00: The doors open and the guests arrive. During the community service you are served fruits and coffee. At any time you will have experienced people to ask if you have any questions.
01:30/02:30: The guests leave the house and you help in cleaning up. At the end you are served pizza before you go home. Hopefully with some new friends and a good feeling of contributing to the common good.
You can self choose what tasks you want to do on community service. This can be entrance service, wardrobe service, stage security, bar or making sure the other people working this evening are supplied with coffee and fruits.
Community Service
Register for community service
You have the opportunity to choose which dates you want to do community service during the semester. You choose which date(s) you want to work by logging on to linticket.no: For login the first time: the username is the email address you entered when registering as member. Press "forgot password" to receive activation code for login. To get the activation code faster, select SMS. Then you'll press “activities” in the menu and then calendar. There you will find an overview of the various events over the semester, and by pressing the name of an event you have signed up for community service that day. First-to-peer applies. If it is not possible to press an event, it may be full and you can choose another day.
We must close the registration for the various events about 4-5 weeks in advance. In some cases we may have to call in people if not enough people have signed up for service. Notice will be sent by mail from personal@samfunnetiaas.no and must be confirmed. Confirmation is made under "My Site" and "My Jobs" in Linticket, http://www.linticket.no/.
If you can’t meet, notify in good time so that we can find a replacement for you. Any allergies or annotations, as well as change of community service, is done under "My Site" and "My Messages" in Linticket. Registration of food allergies must be done on Sundays before current community service in Linticket or by mail to personal@samfunnetiaas.no.
